Experienced Certified Criminal Trial Attorney Finds Effective Solutions For The Defense of Criminal Charges
Under New Jersey law, the prosecution is required to prove the case against you beyond a reasonable doubt in order to obtain a conviction. There are quite a number of effective defense strategies available to combat criminal charges wherein we can seek to have your charges dismissed or reduced even before your case goes to court.
If you have been arrested or are facing criminal charges, I will work on ways to challenge the evidence against you and work tirelessly to help you avoid imprisonment or prosecution altogether. Among the most effective defenses are:
- Miranda rights violations
- Defenses against self-incrimination
- Proof that you were detained or arrested because of racial, ethnic, socio-economic or other profiling bias
- Improper line-up
- Lack of evidence
- Probable cause questions
- Illegal search and seizure
If your Miranda rights were violated or if you were the victim of an unreasonable search and seizure, an experienced attorney could file a motion to suppress any and all evidence that was unlawfully obtained. For more information on what defense strategies could apply in your case, call The Law Office of John B. Brennan to speak with a qualified attorney who can answer all of your questions.

Pemberton is a borough located in Burlington County, New Jersey. It was incorporated as a township by an act of the New Jersey Legislature in the year 1826. The borough was named after James Pemberton, who owned a property in the area.

Portions of the township are also part of the Urban Enterprise Zone (UEZ) where policies implemented are designed to encourage economic growth and development in the area. The Deborah Heart and Lung Center is also located in Pemberton, which focuses medical care on cardiac, vascular, and lung diseases.
Frequently Asked Questions About Pemberton, NJ Criminal Defense
If you decide to go to trial instead of accepting a plea bargain or counter-proposal, the trial will begin with the process of selecting a jury. During the jury selection process, part of your lawyer’s job will be to exclude any jurors who may have certain biases or who would be unable to remain fair and impartial in your case. Once the jury is selected, the prosecution and defense will take turns giving their opening statements. Next, the prosecution will present its evidence and witnesses; and the defense will have the right to cross-examine. After that, it will be the turn of the defense to present its evidence and witnesses; and the prosecution will have the right to cross-examine. After all the evidence is presented, the lawyers give their closing arguments. Finally, the jury decides if the defendant is guilty or not guilty. The jury must find the defendant guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
For anyone who is facing criminal charges, any offer to put an end to the entire ordeal would be very tempting; even if it meant pleading guilty to an offense which you may have entirely nothing to do with, or under certain circumstances, in which your actions were justified and exempt from legal liability. Although tempting, it usually is not the best way for you to proceed. Before accepting any offer or plea agreement from the prosecutor, it is important that you speak with an experienced criminal defense attorney. A highly skilled criminal defense lawyer can evaluate the evidence in your case and determine whether the plea deal you have been offered is fair and reasonable. In some cases, an attorney can help you walk away with significantly reduced charges, a better plea agreement, or no prosecution and no criminal record at all.
